Patricia Richard

Treasurer

Patty has been a year-round resident of the island since 1993. You've probably seen her down at "the mall". Patty did a stint as Prudence Island postal worker when Marcy was on the disabled list. She is an active member of the Homestead Plat Improvement Association and can always be found in the kitchen at their annual Bean Supper. She is treasurer of the Prudence Island Historical Society.

Background:

Patty's professional training is in publications, and she has worked for many years as a layout artist for an industrial trade publication based in Westerly, RI. Before that, she spent several seasons doing field research on blue whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence with the Mingan Island Cetacean Study. She was systems manager of a daily Rhode Island newspaper, The Westerly Sun, for 13 years. She was educated at the University of Colorado, where she studied applied math.

Her goals for the district

Patty will continue to concentrate her efforts on administrative tasks such as grant writing, budget planning and record-keeping, freeing the more technically proficient board members for strategic planning of the community water system.
