A community resource
Serving Prudence Islanders wherever they might be!
Welcome to the official web site of the Prudence Island Water
District. The district was created by the Rhode Island General Assembly
in April of 2004 for the purpose of providing Prudence Islanders
with a publicly administered water system. We hope that this web
site will help us to keep all of our residents informed of district
goals and projects. Please visit us often to stay up to date on
water issues that effect our community.
Have a look around...
This web site is organized into several sections. The menu bar
above provides links to information about district goals and achievements,
meetings, links to other online sources regarding water issues,
and profiles of board members. The column to the right gives you
a quick rundown of the latest district news and upcoming events.
This web site also provides an online survey to help address your
concerns about water on Prudence Island. We have many challenges
to meet, and we need your ideas and opinions to help us with our
strategic planning, so feel free to jump in!
Join us in our efforts!
We welcome your input. Please contact us at any time if you have
any suggestions about this web site, or if you have any questions
about the activities of the Board of Directors. We're here to serve
you, so don't be shy! If we can't answer your questions directly,
we'll try to point you in the right direction. And this web site
will be regularly updated to give all our island residents, whether
they're at home or wintering in the south, relevent information
to help answer questions about planning, funding, quality issues
and conservation. Stay tuned!

Now that the acquisition of the community water system is complete, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work! To that end, the Board of Directors will hold weekly meetings every Saturday through December 13, then take a holiday hiatus and meet every two weeks beginning January 3, 2009. If you want to become involved in the operation of YOUR water system, stop by the fire station at 1 p.m. on Nov. 22, 29 and Dec 6, 13. These meetings do not appear on the annual calendar of meetings for 2008.
